Default Tour de France

Has anyone been watching the tour de france? They've been showing the highlights on ITV4 at 7pm since channel 4 dropped it a few years ago (shame on them! lol).

Very happy and excited that Mark Cavendish is doing so well!

Anyone got any favourite cyclists past or present?

I've heard the odd comment about it... it doesn't seem to attract a huge following unless there happens to be a multi cycle pile up. Or that guy who crashed into a barrier at the side of the road and went flying over the top of it... think that was this year!?

Yeah, its on stage 13 I think? already. All very exciting stuff. I've been following the tour for years, I miss some of the old riders! lol

Don't know about that, admittedly I've missed a stage here and there. I have to fight for the power of the tv with my four year old! lol But no I don't think it was this year. Someone rode into a road sign in today's stage! Oops! I remember this is a few years back someone going down hill didn't turn in time went down the side of a bit of a drop but he walked away from the crash pretty uninjured. There is alot of doping scandles in the tour this year, I think 3 riders have been caught by anti-doping one a stage winner to boot!

Is this like big in england? in here it dominates the newspapers, its nearly as big as football. but hey, the dutch suck so i was celibrating my ass off for cavendish. which i'll be doing as well when the olympics start with him on the track.

no, not really not that I've noticed anyway. Recently the only time I've heard the tour in the new was when mark cavendish won his fourth stage and that was only like a 2 second mention other than that I've not noticed anyone else talking about it. I've been watching the tour since I was a kid, my dad used to watch it and I've seen it a few years ago when they started in Dover, fun times.

They'll be starting in the Netherlands in a few years i believe, but in here we also have the 'criteriums,' which are rather small games [like 120 kilometres, i dont really have a clue whats that in english measures] and they happen anually after each tour de france, the big ones from the tour [cavendish for example] come to the netherlands for a lot of money to ride those.

My mum is obsessed with it. Unfortunately I dismissed it as a really, really, really long bike race, and never really watched it until the final. Haha, it was amazing! I didn't move from the screen. And it wasn't just the tight outfits...

I will watch the next one from the beginning.

And how amazing does Paris look from above? Wow.
