My Gran was very Catholic- we cant just say Bugger off! Some people FEEL very deeply every word Il Papa says. WE NEED A MUCH more sophisticated answer than we are giving. They are not going away anytime soon, and talking about bombing them just lets them classify us as nutters! I believe in a god that loves me as i am, that doesnt make me a traitor to the gay cause, these things are NOT immutable, we just have to keep assaulting them on their own ground. Know a gay priest? I do. Lots in fact.... Love will bring them down....

Sorry for being dry here but you actually serious or is that a joke? You do know a pope can't resign right?

Getting rid of the Catholic religion would cause another to grow stronger, and getting rid of all religion is a bad idea because despite the outdated teachings etc a lot of people find faith in religions and a lot of people turn to it in their darkest hours, some people can't deal with life and need another positive precursor into which they can funnel their negative thoughts and strengthen their hopes.

You may be able to deal with life and never turn to religion, good for you, but there are a lot of people who are not as mentally or emotionally strong. To accept that everything that happens in your life is the consequence of your actions or lack thereof is a big undertaking and a burden not many can handle, which in my opinion I believe is why many Atheists or non-religious people are those who are well educated or outright don't care what happens in life or never give thought to the consequences of their actions.

Plus if there was no religion a lot of people would lose money, some chruches and charities do rather well out of donations from religious followers imagine if those charities never recieved any of that money and if no one at all gave to anyone else where would we end up as a race? If there is no incentive to be good it is human nature to be bad.

The catholic church, like most other religions, has something of a blind spot when it comes to homosexuality. They're prepared to move with the times (eventually and slowly) on most issues, but stick with views on sexuality that belong in the time of when the bible was written.
