For those that have read the site Terms of Use you will be aware that any advertising or promotion is not allowed on the site.

Over the past few months or so we've not enforced this rule and allowed various promotional posts to be made on the site to trial any impact especially from a moderation perspective.

While we appreciate that many of these posts have information that is useful to members. It has now been decided that going forward we will now start enforcing this rule and any advertising or promotional threads/posts by members will be removed. Insight Experience is a new feature I've noticed - is there a thread about this somewhere - I've looked and can't see one - maybe I've missed it.

If this is in wrong place sorry but i noticed a few topics have post missing which was there including mine is there a reason for this?

I've been working on the speed of the site and any issues with lag. I've done some bench marks and got the page laod from 3.46 seconds down to 1.46 seconds on the forum index page.

Can the people that commented about the speed let me know whether thats made a improvement or not.

One of the many things on my to do list is to work on the colour scheme of the site and move it away from the default vbulletin blue.

So what's your favourite colour?

We've introduced a new invite system which you'll find under the community menu. This allows you to invite your friends to come and join you on the site from just about all the webmail and social network sites.

Its really simple to use and I hope you'll all take the opportunity to spread the word of QueerUK to all your friends and contacts.

I'm sorting out some prizes for the people that invite the most people over the coming months and will update you once its been confirmed what will be involved.

As some of you may have already noticed the new chat systems is live on the site. I hope you like it!

As well as one to one chat there is now a group chat.

As always if you don’t want to use it you can turn it off in your control panel.

Any problems with it let me know.

Tags are a way to organise lots of information. They are simply short descriptions for a subject. They are like keywords, or a label for a category.

You can tag a thread with phrases like "pride london club" Later if people are searching for threads about London, They can just click that tag and get a list of all the threads that have been tagged with London. To see a example see: http://www.queeruk.net/tags/men.html

When creating a thread please take the time to add a few tags to it before submitting it.

You can also tag existing threads by clicking on the Add / Edit Tags box at the bottom of each page in the Tags for this Thread section.

There has been some changes to how the site works that I thought I'd let you know about.

The comment threads of the news articles will no longer show up as threads in the What's New section. If you want to read the news or so the comments see the home page.

You can now publish posts directly to your facebook account. Also if you like a post you can click on the Like button and this will show up that you like it on your facebook profile.

Does anyone know if there is a way you can block a person blog enteries from appearing when you click the Blogs link.

I have looked and can't see anything - be great to have it though!

As most of you know I'm currently in the process of testing the new chat software.

I'm looking on feedback on how people want this to work. Along with the main chat room there will be instant messenger capability.

Do you want this set up so that any member of the site can IM you or only people that are on your friends list?

I'd like to post a thankyou to matty for all he does running QUK (and the related sites). It must take of a lot of time and effort.
