GaGa 'getting ordained for gay weddings'

Attachment 818Lady GaGa is training to become a minister in order to perform marriages for her gay fans, according to reports.

The singer is hoping to be ordained in California following the state's rejection of legislation banning gay marriages.

Heat says that the 24-year-old has already taken an online course and is preparing to complete paperwork to become a fully qualified minister.

Tory gay group launch campaign against the blood ban

Attachment 817An LGBT group affiliated to the Conservative Party this week launched their campaign for a review of the ban which means that gay men are not allowed to give blood.

LGBTory, who had record numbers of supporters at Manchester Pride at the weekend, begun their campaign with a petition at the high profile event, which attracted 100s of signatures.

Attachment 815Twenty five young people aged 16 � 21 attended Stonewall�s latest youth residential over Bank Holiday weekend.

The campaign training weekend � the third of its kind � took place from Friday 27 � Sunday 29 August at Woodrow High House in Amersham. Ten Stonewall staff and volunteers supported the young people in planning their own campaigns against homophobia, which they will now take back to their local communities. Young people came from across the country � including Manchester, Liverpool, Somerset and Bristol � to attend the event.

Attachment 81412 teams competed for victory in Gay Sports Day, cheered on by a packed crowd of supporters. The event, organised by GMFA, the gay men�s health charity, and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern (RVT), took place in Vauxhall Spring Gardens on Bank Holiday Monday. Contestants displayed their sporting prowess in events such as the drag relay, the egg and spoon race and the 50m mince, helping to raise vital money for gay men�s health and the local community.

Martin Narey, Barnardo�s chief executive, says:

�For an Agency to have been allowed to refuse potential adoptors simply because of their sexual orientation would have severely diminished securing the best future for many children, therefore Barnardo�s welcomes this decision.

�Adoption can transform a child�s life, and success rests on selecting, for each child, the very best parents in terms of the love and stability they can provide. In most adoptions, the best adoptive parents happen to be heterosexual, however sometimes the best possible parents happen to be gay. All that matters is what is best for the child.�

Manchester Pride Opens with a Bang

Attachment 803Today marks the official launch of Manchester Pride 2010, with a whole host of events planned over the next ten days.

First up, there is the Pride Fringe aspect of the festival which will see over 40 events held in over 20 different venues. Events range from comedy and art to theatre and sport.

Following that, the Big Weekend kick-starts on Friday 27 August, and will see performances from headline acts such as: Kelis, Chicane, Beverley Knight and Belinda Carlisle.
